The reason there is not a father in the first place is because he was abusive & raped 2 of us (his kids).

Now my mom is going through a ‘its my time to live’ spell, and joined some online dating site.

TWICE she has met men, met with them only once or twice..then brought them back to the house for weekends, She does not ‘truly’ know these men, and as a child being from an abusive home (i am not living away at school) I am apalled my mom would do this with men she does not know.

Whats worse is there is a 5,15,and 17 yr old still living in the house. What can i say to my mom to get her to understand we dont care if she dates but we DONT want these guys near us until they’ve been dating a WHILE
Note: i AM away at school.

Also, it concerns me because she leaves the 5 yr old home with the ‘other kids’ to go on dates & weekend getaways with these guys.

And no, calling child services is not an option. My mom is all these kids got, even if its not a whole lot.

I place/post photo(s) of myself on my personal ad/profile for each of the websites listed above.After I read the match’s personal ad/profile, I write and send a different email to each ‘match’ for initiating contact with peer-aged match (the woman or women).

However, I constantly experience that the ‘matched’ person(s)— the peer-aged women–; regardless of race/ethnicity, regardless of her photo or none on her personal ad/profile; that the peer-aged Women do selectively eliminate me– they do n o t reply to any of my email(s) I sent– as potentially being her either platonic friend or amorous/romantic partner based upon h e r preference selection of “Her Ideal Person’s” traits, such as:

1) Height,
2) Race/ethnicity
3) ‘Body type’, and
4) Income/Occupation.

What’s the deal with this prejudice/discrimination from these peer-aged women with so-called ‘matched’ profiles ads???

I moved here almost four years and ago and have been married for almost three years. Next month I will be 30 years old and I feel as if I have a boring life for someone my age. I go to work and come home and that’s it. My husband has several friends that he hangs out with but they are single and not really dating anybody, so it’s not like I can get to know their wives/girlfriends. One of his other friends is married but we hookup with them maybe once or twice a year, and then again, me and the wife don’t really keep in contact after that. I don’t think she is really interested in doing so, because she asked me for my number but has never called. That was like six months ago. I don’t do clubs very often anymore. I may go once or twice a year at the most. The times I have tried to go to nice places and sit in the bar I just don’t meet anybody. I have tried meeting people online but no luck. Where is an appropriate place for a married female to go to find friends?
How do you approach the person? Obviously I don’t want to say, hey, my name is ____ will you be my friend? That’s corny. But no matter how I try to start small talk people just don’t seem interested. They are already out with their girlfriends having fun and they are kind of clickish. Either that or they will talk back at me but it never goes anywhere further. What am I doing wrong? I guess all the other friends I had we met in school and a couple I met outside of (clubs or at other jobs), but it seems impossible to meet new people. People are so withdrawn.
All of my friends live out of state, so it’s not a possibility to do anything with them.

I am just wondering why people are so afraid of online dating. As for me when I am going to date someone from online, we speak of many things. I do not just meet the person before emailing for a while, talking, checking them out. I meet in a public place. He doesn’t get my number, or home address. I think that most people who meet a person at the club, the bank, or just on the street and think this person is cute are more in danger of him being a phyco. Then they have this person come to their home to pick them up for a date, that is scary. I just met you haven’t had a conversation with you, and now you are at my home. If done right to me, on line dating can give better results. My worse dates, have been from people I have met somewhere other than online. But I will add, there are a lot of dishonest people out there, but that is no matter where you meet them. So what makes you afraid of online dating? Have you ever tried it, or are you going from what the news said once.
After reading all the replies so far, I think that the ones against it has made my point. All of the things that has been said to why you shouldn’t you could attribute to why it is dangerous to date a person you haven’t even taken the time to talk to. I agree that you never leave your drink unattended, but that goes with any one you go on a date with. The good thing in that story was that just as she didn’t have his address, he didn’t come and pick her up and know hers either. That type of man could have come back and harmed her if he had been someone she had just met on the street and dated. My point is you should always be safe. Not just take a person at face value. Take the time to learn about this person before you meet to date, or give anything personal out including addresses, and telephone numbers.
